Toes with Potential

I finished some socks last night so today during my lunch break I cast on for a new pair. I haven't decided which pattern to use yet but I'm excited! This yarn is such a pleasure to knit with, Pigeonroof Studios High Twist Sock in Garden Party. I love watching the colors change and it's really soft with great stitch definition. I might pick something with lots of slipped stitches to show it off or maybe just plain knit, who knows ;)

I'm anxiously awaiting a new pair of knitting needles so I can start knitting Nutkin with Kayanna. We are making them in Cakewalk Yarn Footsie in WEENIE! But I'm in between gauge sizes so I'm hoping the new needles will help! And I've been knitting with metal needles which are GREAT (addi turbos & hiya's) but I find I'm constantly dropping stitches and last night I had to repair 3 inches of dropped stitches. Ouch. I'm hoping bamboo needles will be easier.

:)

Basil the Donkey Applique Kindle Case

If you know me, you know that there are 5 things I'm obsessed with:

*trashy romance novels. *donkeys/burros/mules. *Heather Ross. *hand work. *scrap sewing.

I had a few scraps left over from some fqs Ashley shared with me and I decided I needed a new kindle case after mine met it's demise after a dip in a bubble bath.

I haven't had time lately to work on needle turn, it's one of my favorite things to do but I'm SO.SLOW. I wanted a little project just to practice on..a little somethingsomething. So I made this donkey! He's inspired by a stuffed donkey Porkchop bought me in Ashland:

Cute huh?

And then once I started, I wanted to keep going! He needed little flowers around him. And little stitches with Cosmo sparkle thread! And the back is a scrap from my friend Sarah P, she sent me a piece of Heather Ross laundry fabric! swoon!!!

He's totally far from perfect, pretty wonky and as I was working on him I realized I should have made his ears and face one piece but thats ok! I love it & it was fun to embroider & applique!

ps: last night Chop said it looked like he'd been made into taxidermy! haha, he's supposed to be a merit badge. you know, for being a champion donkey. ;)

Hexipuff: The Beekeeper's Quilt

I made a hexipuff today!

Hexipuffs are little knit hexagons for The Beekeeper's Quilt!

I have little scraps of yarn from my socks and I thought it would be fun to make a hexipuff from each blob of yarn I have left. I was thinking they would be tricky but they are EASY PEASY. I started on dpns but switched to magic loop, I find it easier. I did have a tough time on the 3 needle crochet bind off, mostly because I'm kind of clumsy but it's me, not the pattern.

I love love love this pattern, it's really cute, well laid out & clever. $5.50 is totally a bargain, because I know I'm going to just keep making little puffs over & over. I'm going to make a hexipuff or two from the leftovers of each pair of socks I make (crosses fingers!), I think I have enough yarn leftovers right now to make 5-6. It's just like sewing a scrap quilt, except these are knit & you can always add more. I like that part a lot.

This puff was made from Madelinetosh Tosh Sock in Valentine, left over from my heart socks.

These are my current socks: Charade in Cakewake Yarns Footsie in Edisto. These are REALLY fun but I've been sewing a lot lately so I haven't had a chance to work on them as much as I want too :)

Don't forget that Fruit of the Month is on sale until Saturday for only $9.95! And Saturday night Dessert of the Month for April comes out! EEK!!! Have you posted your guess what the new dessert will be on facebook yet? The first person to guess correctly gets a free pattern of their choice! woo woo!!!

I'm going to finish sewing for the day...and obsessing over this album. Don't laugh, it's soooo good!

Quilt in Progress

I started a new quilt this week!

The pattern is called Outfox the Fox by Lizzy House. I am TERRIBLE at using patterns and this just CLICKS. The way she has it written and laid out is perfect. Really easy to make it bigger or smaller, it's just GREAT.

We need a quilt for our bed for spring/summer. Right now we have a wool quilt and it's SO perfect for fall/winter but too much in the summer.

Here is our bed currently:

To be specific, this is my side of the bed. My side has extra quilts & blankets because I'm constantly freezing. Right now I'm using my Modern Maples on top, the pattern can be found in Quilt Dad's Pretty in Patchwork: Holiday book if you'd like to make one too! It's big enough to cover all of my side of the bed. Plus I have a voile & minky blanket, a linen & Neptune quilt and our wool quilt. Like I said, I freeze. The hot cocoa flannel sheets are from Garnet Hill last year and they are the softest, silliest things ever. Can you tell lately I love hot pink, dusty lilac, gray and brown?!

I never blogged this pillow I made, it's a simple basket block but I used Lizzy's peach jewel print from Outfoxed for the background and I LOVE IT. I'm going to use it for my Outfox The Fox Quilt! I love that it looks like peachy white but it's SO MUCH BETTER than that. The jewels are one of my FAVORITE Lizzy things. When I saw this quilt at her house I kind of latched onto it...I might have asked if I could sneak it home...if I had an unlimited budget I would love to have made this pattern in Hello Pilgrim but I went with my stash instead. (Budget Gold Star?! ;))

I'm just waiting for the yardage to arrive so I can finish it up and send it off to Lindsay to work her magic. I can't even begin to express how much I *love* her quilting, I have another quilt to show you guys that she quilted for me that is REALLY rad! She's pretty much the cutest thing.

In exciting news, The Pumpkins are having a SALE! You can get Fruit of the Month between now and March 31st for only $10! That's rad right?! It'll give you guys something fun to work on in between the desserts. Also, come visit us on facebook! We like adding your photos to our facebook page so folks can see the stuff you guys create!

Favorite Snack: Blackberry Lime-Aid Jam

I was rummaging around in our garage freezer earlier this week, hunting for some secret venison back-straps when I found 5 little purple containers of this freezer jam from last summer.

I think freezer jam is silly; a waste of freezer space to be completely honest. I'd rather freeze meat, vegetables & ice cream ;) But finding these squirreled away definitely brightened up a dreary week. I'd gotten a coupon for Ball's new-ish plastic freezer half pints and decided to try them out using this recipe. I switched it up, skipped the pectin, & substituted Hansen's Ginger-Ale for the water.

Recipe as adapted from BH&G Canning

5 1/4 cups sugar 3 cups crushed blackberries zest of 2 limes juice of 2 limes can of Hansen's Ginger-Ale

In a large bowl, combine sugar, blackberries, lime zest and juice. Let stand at room temperature for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add mixture to a small saucepan with ginger-ale and bring to a soft boil.

Stir until well combined and not grainy (I prefer baking sugar to standard for jam making). Let it thicken slightly, 225 degrees will help it gel but it's not necessary unless you hate runny jam.

Ladle jam into half-pint freezer containers, leaving 1/2 inch headspace. Let stand at room temperature for 24 hrs and then move to refrigerator for up to 3 week or freezer for a year.

I like mine on whole wheat toast with a schmear of cream cheese.

Aurifil 2012: March!

Oh yes! It's March which means it's a new month in the quilt-a-long!

I have to say, I really love how unique each designer is in this group. I love reading about each one, how they work & what inspired their blocks. One thing I've noticed is everyone (so far!) learned to stitch when they were young! I only learned handwork 5-6 years ago! I wish I had the years of skills these ladies have! Look how perfect that chain stitch is (I'm pretty sure it's called chain stitch?!)

My favorite part is looking at other people's work spaces. Look at Victoria's! It's incredible. Look at all those windows! eep!

Don't forget that if you stitch along and enter into the flickr pool you can win $100 of aurifil threads! yahoo!!!

And! Victoria runs a charity quilt group, which I'm keeping bookmarked. I donated my first 5 quilts to various charities & I'm always on the look out for more to give things too!

March is already amazingly crazy fun! The Pumpkin's are hard at work and we've released a new pattern on facebook only! It's a cute March themed one, swing by and check it out!

I have 3 WIPs this month, I'll blog about them later this week! And I might review a pattern I've recently made. I'm not sure if I'm qualified to review a pattern but it might be fun to share some of my thoughts with you!

I had plans of running errands this morning, I woke up seeing sunshine & I thought...ICED COFFEE. Then I stepped outside, 30 mph winds and it's 42 degrees. Haha! I think I'll be working at home & drinking something warm. Spring fever is playing tricks with me! ;)

I thought it might be fun today to share with you some photos from The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery's Flickr Pool! It totally makes Ashleigh & I so excited!!!

I've linked back to the original photos so make sure you click on them and tell the folks what a great job they've done!

Is that not the cutest thing ever? It's our Fruit of the Month plus Lizzy*Kate letters! LOVE! LOVEEE!!!

Sarah's 10 year old son Jake made this Devil's Food Cake!

Nicole's Apple!!!

Aneela's cute desserts and hoop bag!

Zombie Pumpkin!!! by Sarah!

I could seriously post stuff from our flickr group all day, it's filled with so much hard work and cuteness! If you aren't already a member, come on over! We'd love to have you!

Have you noticed a new look to our patterns?

Ashleigh has been crazy hard at work this month completely revamping all our patterns. Each one now comes with a fully illustrated "how to" guide and is just ONE pdf, rather than a zip file with multiple files. She gets an A+!

Tonight I'll be emailing out the March Dessert of the Month, we are having a contest over on facebook, if you can guess or come close to guessing March's Dessert of the Month, you can win a free pattern of your choice! Woo! And of course it's never to late to sign up!

ps: looking for Dessert of the Month floss bundles? the workroom carries them! woo woo!

Happy stitching! x x x x x x x x x

Sock Knitting

I'm kind of obsessed with sock knitting.

This is my sock knitting bag & all it's contents!

This is my bunny measuring tape! eep!

And this is my stitch marker collection!

I made a holder for my ninja needles. They aren't REALLY ninja needles, but hiya-hiya interchangeable needles which sounds a lot like the noises ninjas and Chuck Norris make. HIIIIIYAAAAAAAA! Karate CHOP!

oooOOOOOooo!!! Cephalopod Yarns, a Valentine's Day gift from Kayanna that she dyed! and some Cakewalk Yarns! One of these will become my March Socks.

My current project!

Fun right???

I'm hooked on the etsy app, I like looking at all the neat indie dyed yarn. I love that sock yarn is small and really FUN. It's like buying candy. I like knitting a little bit before bed but I've learned I can't watch Downton Abbey & knit lace- I had to pull out half a sock because I was so hooked on the Christmas episode (zomg!)

Normally I hate knitting in the summer, it's very hot here and who wants to be touching wool when it's 115 degrees. BUT SOCKS! They are small and I think they'll be fun to bring camping and on car rides. To me, summer is sewing time and winter is handwork time. I'm not sure why.

My goal this weekend is to find some ranunculus. I've seen a few popping up in the wild but usually the hardware store & pharmacy has some pots of them you can buy. Right now I have a little pot of tiny daffodils Chop surprised me with. Spring makes me want zillions of flowers!

:):):)

The Farmer's Wife Quilt: Back in Session

The Farmer's Wives took Christmas & January off to catch up on holiday crafting and spending time with their families. It was a well needed break for sure!

I'm so excited that we've started back up. We decided to get the farming excitement going by taking photos of all the blocks and it feels kind of crazy. There is a LOT of work here and I'm still a few blocks short! Eep!

It's kind of funny, if you asked me the colors I sew with most I couldn't have guessed so much brown/taupe. I want to add more pink, more gray and maybe a little more green to it. But I'm trying really hard not to "plan" this quilt. It's scrappy and the blocks are very "let's pull some fabric and sew for a few hours" without over thinking it.

Don't forget to share your farm, it's never too late to join in! And be sure to pop by Angela's blog today and say hi!

I'm running errands all day today, I just cast on for another pair of socks and need another pair of knitting needles. (That's a good excuse to visit the yarn shop right?) I'm planning on making this tonight for dinner, it just sounds amazing, I used to hate minestrone as a kid but lately I can't get it out of my head! Also- I discovered our tv has Sirius, I'm hooked on 90s on 9. Uhhh Dr. Dre, No Doubt, Silverchair? Count me IN. ;)

Have a good Wednesday pals!

February 2012 Aurifil Designer: Sherri Falls

Sherri recently blogged her February Block for the Aurifil 2012 Designers! It's pretty dang cute right? I'm dying over the little snowmen! Wouldn't they be super cute on a tea towel too??? Check out the tutorial for this block and the full blog post here.

If you make this block (or January's!) and put it in the flickr group, you can win a TON of free thread. Which is exciting, who doesn't LOVE free thread!

Happy Sunday!!!!

Patchwork Prism Quilt Workshop

So tomorrow I'm taking a class in Sacramento with Tracey and I'm completely un-prepared for it. We are making the above quilt- Patchwork Prism.

With Anna Maria Horner.

Um yeah. THE Anna Maria Horner.

Super cool right???

One problem!

I HAVEN'T PICKED OUT ANY FABRIC YET. Not a single piece. It doesn't help that a good chunk of my stash is neutrals.

Anyone want to come over and help me? I'll feed you toast, jam and brownies!

ps: who wants to place money on me being super awkward? if I wear my circle scarf, is that like, the equivalent of wearing a bands teeshirt to see them in concert? total faux pas? I'll report back & let you guys know how the day went. ;)

Dessert of the Month: Devils Food CupCake!

Do you know what today is? NEW DESSERT OF THE MONTH DAY!!!!!!

Are you excited?! I sure am!!!!

I can't wait to see all your little devils! Eep!

Kristi- the amazing Stitchy Stitcherson, is our cover devil, she stitched the horns & tail in pink which makes for a sweet devil, I've made mine with red horns & a tail....the choice is yours!

Don't forget, you can still sign up here!

ps: this guy would look so cute with Rose Cosmo sparkle floss!

Making Marmalade

Marmalade is one of my favorite jams. It's the best way to use up some big oranges and a fun morning in the kitchen.

I think marmalade is pretty beginner friendly, there is no added pectin. It's a lot of hands off time, letting the fruit cook down and caramelize slightly in the pan. I like making it because the yield is pretty high, it's super bright & summer-y in the jar and I can do other things while it's softly boiling- like laundry or emails.

Recipe: as adapted from Ball Complete Book of Home Preserving (if you are thinking about canning, get this book! no seriously! right away!)

Yield: 8 half pints

2 1/4 lbs oranges, unpeeled but scrubbed clean. grated zest and juice of a lemon 6 cups of water 9 cups bakers sugar (This is just extra fine sugar, I find it dissolves better in jam) 1/2 cup honey

optional: vanilla bean paste and vanilla vodka for an orange creamsicle marmalade 2 habanero chili peppers and a dash of red pepper flakes for a spicy marmalade

Wash your jars in hot soapy water, then place them in a water canner with at least an inch and a half of water covering the jars. Do not use them straight out of the package. Set the canner on the stove to boil, set the lids and rings in a small sauce pan on the stove in simmering warm water. Don't boil the rings and lids. I always sterilize a few extra jars, just in case!

Put 4-5 metal spoons in your freezer.

Using either a very sharp knife or a mandolin slice your oranges with the peel on very thin (1/8th to a 1/4 inch thickness) and remove the seeds.

Zest your lemon.

Combine lemon zest, oranges, juice of the lemon and the water in a large stock pot. Bring to a boil. Once it starts to boil, lower it to a gentle boil. This means the bubbles are there but it's not a crazy rolling boil. Once it starts to gently boil, set a timer for 40 minutes. During this time I like to stir occasionally, check my email, do laundry, etc. But keep in mind that you are COOKING. Don't abandon your oranges completely or they'll scorch, especially if you are using a thin metal pot.

During the gentle boil your fruit will start to turn a light yellowish orange and fall apart. This is good!

After 40 minutes, feel free to spice things up by adding some habanero chili peppers or dried red pepper flakes.

Set a timer for another 30 minutes and partially cover. You'll keep boiling gently but really keep an eye on it. The fruit is starting to break down a lot now, the peels will start to break. I like to press them against the pan every so often, if they fall apart easily, I know I'm getting close to done. Plus I prefer smaller peel bits in my marmalade.

I know, 40 minutes and another 30 minutes of cooking. You are feeling like this is a long time right? Nope! It's what gives marmalade it's deep taste and characteristic darker bright orange color.

After your 30 minute timer goes off, it's GO TIME. If you've added peppers, remove them now.

Add 9 cups of sugar, a little at a time, mixing well. I pre-measure out the 9 cups so I'm not digging around in the sugar bin. Keep the jam boiling and set a timer for 15 minutes, this is what causes the marmalade to thicken- the super rolling boil and the sugar. Towards the end I add the honey. During the last 5-7 minutes of cooking, grab the cold spoons from the freezer and dip them in the marmalade. This is called doing a sheet test. You want the marmalade to come off the spoon in a sheet, not single drops. Drops mean the marmalade is still too liquid-y and needs to keep cooking.

At this point, it's easy to get overwhelmed, the mixture is at a rolling boil, your stirring often so it doesn't burn, it's foaming, but don't worry. It really does take 15 minutes to gel, sometimes longer. I was at 19 minutes before I got a nice sheet off my spoon. I also keep a thermometer in the pot, 220 degrees is generally when it thickens, but if you are at high or low altitude this temperature will be different. Let the fruit cook, it will foam and that's ok! If you get overwhelmed and are concerned about burning it, keep in mind that there is NOTHING wrong with marmalade that is slightly runny. It makes excellent marinade for chicken, fish, duck, pork...really anything. Plus of course on top of ice cream and in oatmeal.

Once your fruit has reached gel point, take it off the stove and start filling jars!

If you want to make a creamsicle jam- stir in 2 TBL vanilla bean paste and 2 TBL vanilla vodka to the marmalade. It's pretty swoon worthy!

You'll need 1/4 inch headspace, make sure you remove any air bubbles from the jars and wipe the rim of the jar with a damp paper towel. Put the lid and band on the jar, place the jar back in the canner. Once the water starts boiling again, set a timer for 10 minutes to process. Once the timer is done, lift the lid and let the jars set for 5 minutes, then remove and let cool undisturbed. If you have any jars that haven't sealed, either reprocess or put in the fridge to use within a month.

That's it! Not too bad right? You can find the original recipe here but buy the book! It's so good and my copy is well loved and used.

so now you HAVE to make marmalade. And give it to friends! or be a meanie like me & hoard it ;)

Simple Socks

I made a pair of socks!

I'm not going to lie to you guys, I've been wearing them nonstop since I finished them. It feels so cool!

I took a class at Heartstrings and learned Judy's Magic Cast On, Magic Loop and Toe Up Socks. I picked a super simple pattern, Gusset Heel Basic Socks. I knew any fancy pattern would be lost in this crazy variegated yarn (Madelinetosh Sock in Mansfield's Garden Party) and I wanted to learn what makes a sock a sock! A lot of times when I'm knitting I'm flying blind, I just follow the pattern but don't really understand what makes it work or exactly what I'm doing. But now I get it! (at least with socks ;))

I can't say enough about this book, Socks From The Toe Up I feel like I've learned SO much and I seriously want to knit like, EVERY pair in the book.

I cast on and got gauge using size 1 needles and what I love about toe up is how easy it is to try the socks on as you go. I assumed since I have around a size 9.5 shoe I'd be a large but after trying it on, they were HUGE, it's the first time I've ever successfully frogged back, picked up the stitches and was able to continue. Normally I frog back to the beginning and start over. My first sock took FOREVER but my second second was much faster. The way the yarn pooled is completely different on each sock!

I treated myself to some hedgehog sock blockers, I'm totally in love with them, the wood is super smooth and heavy, plus the hedgehogs are hilariously adorable. I'm kind of tempted to get some cat ones too.

Last week I was stuck home with the flu...boo...but it meant lots of knitting time. I cast on for a pair of Valentine Socks with some Madelinetosh Sock yarn in...VALENTINE. I altered one of the charts in the book a little bit and then changed it up again. Each sock is COMPLETELY different because I decided a few repeats in to try something different. ;)

I'm excited about sock knitting and now I want to buy a zillion skeins of sock yarn!

February is coming up and I'm so excited. I'm going on a trip, taking an exciting class with Tracey and we are releasing some amazing new patterns! eek!

January Fun

Where did January go???

Oh right. I went on a major cleaning spree and vacuumed up my power cord and had to wait for another one to arrive. Awesome right? I have an iphone which I truly love but I *hate* writing long emails on it so please give me a few days if you've emailed me.

I've been doing lots of fun stuff, up until late last week it's been bright & sunny here. I've been gardening, our first heads of cauliflower look so amazing, they are my PRIDE & JOY. I sometimes go outside just to look at them and think...I FREAKING GREW CAULIFLOWER. CAULIFLOWER!!!! We've been enjoying giant salads from the lettuce. And my lemons went to curd and marmalade.

I've finished the first 4 months of Dessert of the Month Club and I kind of am dying over how crazy cute it is. So far February & April are my VERY VERY VERY favorites. How are your truffles coming along? You can sign up at any point during the year.

Did you enter your January block to the Aurifil flickr group? You could win $100 worth of thread! I don't know about you but I'd love $100 worth of thread. I'm all out of white for piecing so I've switched to light lavender. Kind of a pretty secret in my quilt blocks ;)

I've been slowly but steadily working on my SOCKS! So I started the month thinking I'd be making Pomatomus but I lost confidence in my knitting skills and frogged. Then I started on Hermione's Everyday Sock but I wasn't in LOVE with them and was running out of yarn scary fast. I took a knitting class and learned magic loop socks!!! from the toe up!!! I'm working on super plain Gusset Heel Socks & they fit PERFECTLY. I'm using a Madelinetosh yarn, this sock won't win a beauty contest but I've learned so much & I'm very inspired. Not to mention I'm obsessed with looking at sock yarn online. I blame Kayanna completely for all of this. I'm hoping to finish my second sock this week so February 1st I can cast on for some very pink socks. I bought a skein of Madelinetosh from a girl on ravelry called VALENTINE & I'm dreaming of some simple lace socks. I even bought fancy wooden sock blockers!

I'm kind of (very) obsessed with making box bags. Robert Kaufman and Laurie Wisbrun very generously sent me some Modern Whimsy to play with and I made my good friend Brie a box bag for her knitting. This fabric is so bright & spring-y & just the pop of color I need, our beautiful sunshine has given away to actual winter. Lots of rain & clouds! Thank you RK & Laurie for brightening up my stash! I'm thinking by the first week of February I'll re-open my etsy shops (yup, two of them!) with new treats! eep!

Off to tackle my inbox! Yippee!!!!

:):)

Truffle Party!

EEK!

Yesterday after finishing up my computer work I sat down and started working on my truffle. I've been seeing a lot of internet hype about Downton Abbey & thought I'd give it a try. It's available on PBS! I finished my truffle. What a lumpy cutie! I used three strands of DMC iridescent combined with one strand of Cosmo gray that matches my linen. I wanted the sparkle to POP.

Confession. After using a smidge of sparkle in my truffle, I want this sparkle floss bundle so I can add sparkle to all my months! The Cosmo sparkle floss is so amazing compared to DMC. Really smooth and doesn't get all crunchy. I know. Weird. But sometimes floss can get CRUNCHY! Even with thread heaven! This sparkle floss is like BUTTER. But the two colors I have didn't work with the truffle. Hrumph. Maybe a Porkchop can get me this bundle for Valentine's Day! (I don't want sparkly jewels...I want sparkly embroidery floss. Haha! ;))

I just put the finishing touches on February...I'm hoping today while I'm getting an oil change in our car I can work on March. I'm wishing I had green sparkle floss for him! I think that's what I love most about these little desserts, you can totally customize them! Make them however YOU want!

Check out our official Pumpkin Pattern Tester- Kristi-...does that orange not make you SQUEEL?! Her stitching is so nice and neat. Even though I cross stitch a lot...I am SO not at her level of awesomeness. My goal by the end of 2012 is to be a neater stitcher!

The Dessert of the Month Club sale ends TONIGHT! at MIDNIGHT! That doesn't mean you can't join tomorrow! It will just be $6.95 more! So from now until MIDNIGHT, it's only $10 for the entire year! One time payment! 12 pdf cross stitch deliveries! That's pretty rad right? Especially since we decided that some month's will be getting cute recipes. Like next month!

Ok! off to run errands! See you soon!

ps: I'm so in love with my linen from dovestitch! It's really soft and sparkly and awesome! I'm not affiliated with them at all, just totally crushing!

Wild Olive Pattern of the Month Club!

It's Monday! Monday needs to have an infusion of cute. We have to start the week off right! Do you guys know about Mollie? I'm sure you do! She's pretty much the cutest blogger ever. I love her kawaii aesthetic and her blogs positive & fresh feel. She's always blogging adorable things, like laundry, printable calendars, and she has a ton of patterns.

You know how the Pumpkins have Dessert of the Month? Well Mollie has a Pattern of the Month Club. MMMHMM! That's pretty rad right? If you've ever purchased any of her patterns you know that they are professional and you get a lot of adorable things to stitch. I have Hearts Day & Happy Campers! My goal for January is to embroider some hearts and camp fires on a pillow case for Chop for Valentine's Day!

^ that right there? ^ Adorable right? It's a peek of one of Mollie's projects for her Pattern of the Month Club! You'll get 13 patterns for $38! That is so awesome! That's 12 months of patterns (plus you get a bonus!) for less than $3 a month. In Amanda Language- that's one Starbucks trip! And she even has a Project of the Month Club! how inspiring can one girl be?! eek! So cute!

Pop on over to Mollie's blog and say hi! I'm going to make one of her fabric flag key rings today to stick in my project life. Eep!

PS: if you don't know how to embroider, she has an entire section on embroidery! woo woo!

I'm getting ready to have some breakfast & get to work! :) See you soon!

Dessert of the Month & Project Life

Happy Sunday!!!!

I thought it would be neat if once a week I shared with you my weeks worth of project life cards. Project Life is SO much fun for me. If you've never heard of it, check out some links here, here and here

I've been making 4x6 inch cards to store in this little library drawer. Every day my phones alarm goes off and I set a timer for 10 minutes to reflect on my day and make a card. Super fun & achievable since I take about a zillion cell phone photos a day. I've been using scrapbook paper I've been collecting just because I love paper and my pogo printer. I'm keeping them simple and fun. Sometimes I write a few words that capture the day or glue a receipt to the back of a card. I love things in multiples and already seeing this cute little stack of cards makes me super happy. I bought myself a Martha Stewart Valentine's Day Mat Stack (I think it's called?) with a 40% Michaels coupon so I think the entire month of February is going to be PINK! eek!

Dessert of the Month!!!! My linen from dovestitch arrived yesterday afternoon & I watched some Psych and started stitching. I'm SO excited with how many people are stitching along with us! I'm having a hard time keeping up with all the blog posts/photos/tweets etc! I want to make sure I link to, re-tweet, like photos and I don't want to leave anyone out! So if you've blogged about dessert of the month, could you leave me a comment or if you know of a friend who's blogged about it? I'd love to do a round up this week of links! Truffle PARTY!!!!!

The pattern is on sale for $10 only until TUESDAY! Then it goes up to $16.95!

Also- twitter & instagram friends, let's use the hashtag #dessertofthemonth so we can keep up with each other!!! Fun!!!

I can't wait to share with you February's dessert. Seriously. Each time I look at him I get excited. My mom thinks I should send out dessert recipes for each month...why didn't I think of that? I think next month I'll include a recipe! That would be cute right?!

Yesterday I canned habanero marmalade! It is so amazing but too spicy for me. I'm going to try grapefruit marmalade next weekend, I'm testing recipes for a winter jam class I'm teaching in February. I'm crossing my fingers Chop & I go out for frozen yogurt today, I haven't had any since OCTOBER! What the heck?!?!!!

Have a good Sunday pals!

Exciting Day! Aurifil & Pumpkins!

Today is an exciting day!!!
